The town of Val d’Isere is known as the ideal venue for various skiing championships. One of its areas, the Face du Bellevarde, became the location of the men’s downhill race event during the 1992 Winter Olympics. The same area will also be used for the men’s slalom and for the giant slalom during the Criterium de la Premiere Neige. And for the coming 2009, the town of Val d’Isere will be welcoming participants and spectators of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships.
